Pulling Away

Space vs. losing interest

No single sign proves either explanation. Compare words with actions, look at the duration and consistency of the change, and notice whether communication remains respectful and reciprocal.

Start with the pattern, not the stereotype

When distance appears, write down what has actually changed: frequency of contact, plans, affection, conflict, stressors and follow-through. This prevents anxiety from turning one ambiguous moment into a complete story.

A grounded response

Give reasonable space without disappearing into guesswork. If the pattern matters to you, name the change calmly and ask for clarity. Then evaluate the response—not just the explanation.

When more support makes sense

If the situation involves fear, coercion, abuse, threats, addiction, severe distress or a mental-health crisis, general relationship content is not enough. Consider appropriate professional or emergency support for your location.
